Xuanwu Lake, called “Sangbo” in ancient times, is located in the northeast of Nanjing and has a history of more than 1,500 years. It is the largest royal garden lake in China and the only royal garden in South China. It is known as the “Jinling Pearl”. It was a royal garden in the six dynasties period and became a forbidden place in the Ming Dynasty. In 1909, it was transformed in to a public park, called Wuzhou Park. There are all kinds of fishes and beautiful lotus flowers in the lake. In summer and autumn, green water and pink flowers add radiance and beauty to each other. The lake is full of pleasant smell and the scenery is so charming.
