Laomendong” is an ancient geographical name of southern area in ancient Nanjing. Now it is on the south of Gutong Lane, Confucius Temple. This area once was one of the most developed commercial and residential places in Nanjing. Nowadays, according to the traditional style, Chinese wooden architecture is rebuilt in order to demonstrate traditional culture and reproduce the original appearance of this area. There is a duplicate memorial archway in the north of Laomendong, on which three characters “Laomendong” are written. When people go across the memorial archway and walk down the old streets, they will feel and enjoy the traditional life style and features here.
